Abstract:
The magnetic fabric characteristics of the sandstones from Miboshan Formation in the middle section of Helan Mountain are studied to estimate the paleocurrent direction in the sedimentary period in this paper. Twelve typical samples are selected to measure the primary remanence and the result shows that the sandstones in Miboshan Formation possessing moderate intensity magnetic susceptibility with weak natural remanent magnetization. The result of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility shows that the paleocurrent direction was from NE to SW, revealing the sandstone sediments originated from the western edge of the North China block.
