Geoheritage survey and geopark construction in the Qixiashan area, Nanjing

The Qixiashan area in the city of Nanjing has a long history of geological survey and abundant regional geological data, but no special geological heritage survey has been carried out at present. Based on the first field investigation on geological heritages in the Qixiashan area, 67 important geological heritages of great importance were selected, and are divided into 7 classes, 15 sub categories and 13 categories. Through analyzing the resource features of the geoheritage, 6 national geoheritages and 25 provincial geoheritages have been evaluated, which shows that the geoheritages in the Qixiashan area have been up to the national criteria for geoheritages. This study, through probing the advangeous condition of geopark construction in Qixiashan, proposes planning and suggestion for geoheritage conservation and geopark construction, and this will provide theoretical basis for construction of geoparks in the Qixiashan area.
