Suitability evaluation of agricultural production in Ninghua County based on geological survey achievements

    • Based on 1∶50 000 geological survey results in the area, this paper adopts limiting factor method to weight and sum the agricultural production suitability indexes, evaluates and grades the county-level agricultural production suitability of Ninghua County, Sanming City of Fujian Province. The current resource allocation of arable land in Ninghua County was reasonable in general, and 3.54% of the cultivated land belongs to the unsuitable area. The red bed area of Ninghua was prone to water and soil loss, especially the plantation of oil tea and other crops, posing a serious impact on the local ecological environment. Since the relatively thin thickness of the soil in some plots hindered the downward growth and extension of crop roots, this kind of soil was unfavorable to conserve water and fertilizer, and was not suitable for agricultural cultivation. In addition, terraces are widely distributed in Ninghua with regular farming platform and thick soil thickness, and can be used as an effective supplement to cultivated land resources in mountainous areas. The suitability evaluation of agricultural production can provide special technical support for county-level land spatial planning and is conducive to the optimization of agricultural production pattern.
