Geochemical characteristics of stream sediments and prospecting potential analysis in the Luoguhe region of the Great Xing’an Range

Abstract: The Luoguhe region is located in the northern of the Great Xing’an Range. Gold deposits such as Shabaosi and Sanshierzhan, as well as the Luoguhe lead-zinc polymetallic deposit, have been discovered in and around the area, that making it a favorable region for the formation of multi-metal deposits such as gold, copper, with good prospecting potential. To further tap into the prospecting potential of the Luoguhe region, based on the results of 1∶50 000 stream sediment survey, we studied geochemical characteristics of 20 elements including Au, Ag, and Cu in the Luoguhe region. Through analyzing elemental geochemical parameters, characteristics of distribution and elemental association, it was found that the geochemical conditions for mineralization of Au, Ag, Cd, Ni and Sn are relatively favorable, with Au being the main ore-forming element. The distribution areas of the Mohe Formation, Xiufeng Formation, and Jiageda Formation are the most favorable for mineralization. Based on the delineation of single-element anomalies, combined with characteristics of elemental association and anomaly, as well as the geological conditions of the anomalies, we delineated a total of 11 comprehensive anomalies, and identified 4 mineralization prospects. The geological and mineralization conditions within each prospect area are summarized and the anomalies are verified. Combined with the analysis of regional mineralization geological background, it is indicated that the study area has the potential to form low-to-moderate temperature hydrothermal gold and polymetallic deposits, providing important basis for further prospecting in the area.
