Abstract:
The Nanting River Fault is a large-scale northeast-trending strike-slip active fault sandwiched between the Red River Fault and the Sagaing Fault, with intense activity during the Quaternary period. However, it remains unclear whether this fault extends northward and cuts through the Lancang River Fault, and how it affects the formation of the “Lancang River Great Bend”. Hyperspectral remote sensing technology can efficiently support large-scale investigation on fault structures. Based on the Landsat 8 optical satellite remote sensing images after digital image processing and combined with 30 m resolution ASTER DEM data, this paper focuses on the remote sensing interpretation of the northern section of the Nanting River Fault and its associated influence area related to the “Lancang River Great Bend”, and establishes interpretation signs. The results show that the northern section of the Nanting River Fault does not cut through the Lancang River Fault, but causes the twisting and dragging deformation of the Lincang granite dikes in the north to Yun County, resulting in the deviation of the Lancang River water system in the area. The northern section of the fault divides into an eastern and a western branch, which converge near Dabingnong Village in Yun County and “pinch out” near Biji Guo Village in Yun County, indicating that it has undergone left-lateral strike-slip movement. The toppling effect has further developed and continuously evolved the “Lancang River Great Bend”.
